The days are getting shorter, and a chill is descending over most of the U.S. and Canada. The season to spread good cheer has arrived when we give thanks for what we have and try to brighten and warm the lives of those that are less fortunate. It is also the season of change when we ring in the new year and, at the end of the month, days start getting longer once again.
It is also time that we adjust to the new world of CIP version 5. No longer will grinches be telling us of Critical Assets or Critical Cyber Assets but rather visions of BES Cyber Systems will dance in our heads. (Perhaps I shouldn’t drink eggnog as I write this.) The Risk Based Assessment Methodology will give way to the “bright line criteria” which is not nearly as neat and tidy as it sounds. These are just a few examples of the numerous changes afoot with version 5. Out with the old and in with the new.
