It’s the middle of May, so you might have wondered where your latest edition of the Reliable Wire has been. We are changing up our distribution schedule a little; from now on, the Reliable Wire will be distributed on a bi-monthly basis, in the middle of the month. We will also be playing around a little with some style and formatting changes. Our goal is to deliver a newsletter that is useful and valuable. In that vein, we would love to hear any feedback you may have and encourage you to email us your thoughts.
Meanwhile, FERC and NERC keep plugging away in the lab with new standards, reports, and initiatives all while we are supposed to be moving towards a “steady state” reliability compliance program. However, they say good things come to those who wait, we’ll see.
Order Denying Rehearing of Order 802
FERC issued an Order Denying Rehearing of Order 802 which approved CIP-014-1—Physical Security. The purpose of this Reliability Standard is to identify and protect transmission substations and their associated control centers against physical attacks that could adversely impact the reliable operation of the BES.
